Transfer Definitions
The following definitions will assist with understanding how to identify various Reservations within a group of Reservations (Multi-Reservation tenancy).
Initial Reservation
The first reservation of a multi-reservation tenancy is the “Initial Reservation.” This is the only reservation in the tenancy that was not transferred from another reservation. There is only one initial reservation in a multi-reservation tenancy. All of the reservations in a multi-reservation tenancy are hooked to the initial reservation.
Transfer Reservation
A “Transfer Reservation” is a reservation that is generated from an existing reservation – either the initial reservation or another transfer reservation. All transfer reservations start out with a “pending” status in the transfer table, and are subsequently “rolled back” or changed to a “committed” status in the transfer table.
Originating Reservation
An “Originating Reservation” is a reservation from which a transfer reservation is generated. An originating reservation may be the initial reservation or another transfer reservation. Each transfer reservation is associated with a single originating reservation and with a single initial reservation (which may be the same reservation).
Preceding Reservation
A “Preceding Reservation” is the reservation in the group with a departure date that is the arrival date of the reservation being considered. A preceding reservation may have been added to the system after the reservation being considered, and thus have a higher reservation number; or, it may be the originating reservation, in which case it will have a lower reservation number. When a transfer is committed, it relies on the data in the preceding reservation, regardless of whether or not that reservation is the originating reservation.
